1. Our Service – Companionship Only
ElderBridge provides non-medical, non-personal-care companionship to elderly individuals. Our companions engage in social activities, conversation, reading, letter writing, light cognitive stimulation, and accompanied walks. We do not provide: nursing, personal hygiene assistance, medication administration, medical advice, or any regulated care activity under the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
2. No CQC Registration
Because ElderBridge offers companionship only and does not provide regulated care, we are not required to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). You retain full responsibility for your own health, safety, and medical decisions.
3. Eligibility & Use of Service
By using ElderBridge, you confirm that:
- You or your authorised representative understand this is not a care service.
- You do not require physical assistance with washing, dressing, eating, or toileting during our visit.
- You will inform ElderBridge of any known risks (e.g., fall history, wandering) to enable safe companionship.
4. Booking, Cancellation & No-Show
- Cancellations with 24+ hours notice: no charge.
- Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice: 50% of the session fee.
- No-show by client (companion arrives but no access given): full session fee charged.
- ElderBridge may cancel at any time with full refund if companion safety is at risk.
5. Liability Limitation (UK Law)
To the maximum extent permitted by UK law:
- ElderBridge is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from pre-existing medical conditions, accidents unrelated to companion negligence, or refusal to seek medical help.
- Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the fees paid for the session in which the incident occurred.
- Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
6. Client Obligations
You agree to:
- Provide a safe, smoke-free, non-violent environment.
- Inform us of any aggressive behaviour history (including dementia-related agitation).
- Not ask companions to perform care tasks (e.g., lifting, wound care).
7. Emergency & Medical Situations
Companions will call emergency services (999) if a client appears seriously unwell, injured, or unconscious. Companions are not trained to assess medical conditions. You or your family remain responsible for emergency contacts and medical care decisions.
8. Data & Privacy
We collect only basic contact and companionship scheduling information. We never collect health data. See our Privacy Policy for full details under UK GDPR.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in UK courts.
10. Acceptance
By booking or using ElderBridge services, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Agreement.
